A Spiritual Journey by Wendell Berry
And the world cannot be discovered by a journey of miles,
no matter how long,
but only by a spiritual journey,
a journey of one inch,
very arduous and humbling and joyful,
by which we arrive at the ground at our feet,
and learn to be at home.
(C) Wendell Berry
Tell the story of a spiritual journey you have taken. What happened? Why changed? What did you learn?
What do you understand by the poet’s phrase, “a journey of one inch,”? What does that one inch consist of? How is it different than a journey of miles?
Begin a poem with these words, “My spiritual journey…”
